Broughton-in-Furness Railway Station is a closed railway station that served the market town of Broughton-in-Furness, in Cumbria, England and was on the branch line to Coniston. == History ==
In 1848 the Furness Railway extended its line from Barrow to Kirkby-in-Furness to nearby Broughton-in-Furness with the intention of serving local copper mines. Two years later Parliament authorised, on 10 August 1857,〔Searle, MV (1983) Lost Lines: Anthology of Britain's Lost Railways, New Cavendish Books P187〕 an extension of the line from Broughton northwards to Coniston which opened in June 1859.〔Searle, MV (1983) Lost Lines: Anthology of Britain's Lost Railways, New Cavendish Books P187〕 British Railways closed the station and the branch to passengers in 1958 and goods in 1962.〔Western, Robert (2007), The Coniston Railway, Usk: Oakwood Press, ISBN 978-0-85361-667-2 P80〕 The station building remains.
